The past few weeks it has been pretty cold. Not so much for us burrito boys, but for our friends who start the day at 5:30 or so to try to find work.
Folks walk through the snow or find any way the can to get to find work. It’s a little difficult to get there so early, especially as the thermometer drops to -8F.
The cold hurts twice…once because jobs seem to be scarce and secondly, well, its cold. Care of your feet and hands is really important. Wet socks can freeze your feet; some of our friends use newspaper liners to soak up the moisture. One of our friends had a nice pair of newer insulated boots that split open on the heel a few days into the job.
